Based on Act LXXXV of 2011 on the environmental product tax and Government Decree 343/2011 (XII.29.) implementing it, from 1 January 2012 it is not only entities newly subject to the tax who must register but also those who were previously subject to the environmental product tax.

It is important to note that the Act on Economic Chambers was amended from 1 January 2012 to the effect that business organisations subject to compulsory registration (with certain exceptions) will be obliged, within five working days after registration, to request registration in the records of the economic chamber with territorial jurisdiction over the location of their registered office. Business organisations that are already in operation are obliged to initiate registration with a chamber within 60 days following 1 January 2012.
